What is Sakiori?

Sakiori is literally translated “tear-weave,” this is a form of weaving from the Edo period, in which old, well-worn cloth is torn into thin strips and woven, and transformed into clothing or daily commodities.

Sakiori is amazing!

Reuse used cloth! Japan has always had a spirit of valuing things with care!

Sakiori is scheduled to start at Wanariya as well. Sakiori with Aizome cloth that can only be done at Wanariya!

Weaving the fabric by combining indigo dyed cloth various colors from about 5 types.
